Little Witch Academia is a 26 minute OVA that has a 100% female cast, loads of Harry Potter, World of Warcraft, and other fantasy influence, and some gorgeous animation.
This lovely little story about a girl and her friends in witch school fighting a dragon is short, sweet, and damn I wish there was more of it.
I love this thing, guys. Like, there’s super cute character designs, tons of adorable ladies using magic, and some stellar visuals.
On a feminism note, this does well, good. I’d rate it “feminist friendly.” The story is very simple It isn’t about any feminist ideals or anything, but it has female friendships, a 100% female cast, an like, no objectifying fan service.
I will say that all of the ladies are pretty light skinned and thin, which is typical of anime. So it has some representation issues there. There’s no romance at all in the story, so while there’s no LGBTQ+ representation, it doesn’t make me infuriated with heteronormativity either.
If you want an adorable, fun, quick little magical romp that is certified feminist friendly, check it out.
